I paid $1500 for my 6600 in October...could've got it for less if I'd ordered from the West Coast...but I like my dealer and wanted the assurance that he would stand behind the machine so the price was worth it to me. Seems like they should be a little less now, though.

Thanks for asking this question, as I may go and test drive the Horizon later this week. Re the price: here in the UK some dealers, but not all, are advertising a good reduction on it at present. I think it's usually 1700 or 1800 pounds, though someone may correct me on that - available at 1400 at the moment.

Thank You, Thank You so much for the info I appreciate it very. much.
No problem. I went to the store that is listed in Mechanicsburg, PA. And as I found out in doing a LOT of searching...there are no prices listed on Janome machines unless it's on a forum or places like ebay etc. The salesman's name is Bob if she is so inclined to get in touch with my dealer for you.

The thought has crossed my mind, however i know my Janome dealer is going to do what she can to get me the best deal possible. I am going to drop off the info Linda gave me so she has a reference.

I see the price of $1999 a lot. My local dealer recently advertised that price. I'm in MA. She's also had the deal of $1000 off (resulting price is $1999) with a trade in. (Now I know this probably isn't right, but you could get a machine off of Craigs List - free or cheap-cheap) as a trade in.)
You CAN get a machine for $2000. If you're willing to get a used machine, you can do better. Check out the Yahoo list sewitsforsale or something like that.
Personal opinion - hold out for the Horizon. The throat space is amazing.

Thanks for the info. I dropped the name and number of the place Linda got hers from. I spoke with her brother who said she was looking into this AM but wasn't sure what she came up with. She'll call me once she knows something. DH said if they weren't able to do the $1999 price we are better off checking someplace else even though we love supporting our small down mom and pop stores.

You might ask your dealer if they have in house servicing, and what it costs.
A major red flag at my Janome dealer was when they told me they didn't do in house servicing but "had never had anyone need anything done". I asked about cleaning and she told me with these machines it "wasn't necessary".
That didn't seem like they'd be able to offer much service if I needed help...

Oh, I know mine does in house servicing. Janome is all they carry, hundreds of quilters in the area use our local dealer for sewing machine service. Thanks for the tip.
