Default I'm at a loss for a word

what do we call the strips of fabric we use to increase the size of a block to make it equal to a larger one? I'm stuck on "sashing" which is not what I'm talking about! BTW - if you go to Webster's on-line thesaurus it doesn't recognize the word "sashing"!

I've always referred to them as "fill strips".

Filler? Extender? I don't know of any official term for this.

I would call them sashing strips for the block or border strips for the block.

Framing strips maybe? And at our age, memory means one can remember how to get home from the LQS--or at least close enough to recognize the neighbourhood
