After seeing a topic about this here, I decided to give it a try. I don't have a real big embroidery machine, it's the Bernette 430 Deco. I'm not always getting the design centered "just right", but I'm loving it so far! I had bought "Best of Quilting" designs from OESD and have been afraid to try. But thanks to you all I am having some fun now!

I did that once with a quilt for a friend of mine. I just embroidered little flowers (about 1 1/2 inch) in corners of the blocks I made. It came out pretty good. Just wished I had taken a picture of it.

I'm trying to take pictures, but the fabric is so "wild" (it's for my 3 year old niece) that I'm not sure if you can see the details. Let me play with the picture and try.

Okay, that is neat and now I'm convinced I have to try it.

Since I received my Pfaff from my MIL and haven't taken classes, there is a lot that I haven't tried yet. I just came across a DVD that takes you through the lessons you would get from a dealer and I ordered it! I got some free embroidery designs because my purchase was over $30, too. The site is called Secrets of Embroidery. Does anyone else use that site? I thought it was very informative and had neat designs, info and tutorials, although the tutorials are mostly for sale.

Now I'm so excited it will be a while before I settle down and go to bed! :lol: :lol:

I went to a quick seminar at Sew Expo last year about this. A couple of hints, that I have used, a vinyl table cloth on your work surface lets the quilt "glide" with the emb. arm. Scrunch or nest your quilt around the machine to keep it from pulling.
I've done two this way and like it as another way to quilt my quilts.
Oh, almost forgot...they also said to put your machine on the floor if your table is not big enough for the quilt and machine. It seems one big problem is the weight of the quilt pulling the emb arm and fabric in the hoop out of alignment while it is stitching causing errors in the stitching of the design.

I "unscrunched" it for the picture, lol. It's not a very big quilt (finished size will be about 48 x 48) so I figured it was the perfect size to try this with.

One thing I can definitely say, my hooping skills are improving!
