You know I have a new back up motor on an engine stand for my hot rod right now. I learned early in life (16) that you need to have one because you never know when you will blow up something.

And I have back up machines for back up machines, I guess that comes with collecting them. But I really hope it is something simple like the grub screw coming loose.

There are some machines that have a hollow needle shaft and they can shear.

do you have a button at the top that puts your needle up and down ? that will put your needle back where it should be . I have bent so many needles from that.

Indeed it could be the foot, or the way it attaches to the shaft, as it may not be snugging up close enough or far away enough, try looking at that issue, as I have had some feet that are slightly off and its ususally due to the way the foot is attaching to the post.

I share your pain. In August the needle bar frame inside my Viking #1 broke. I was letting a friend sew at the time and the needle hit a zipper pull. Fortunately I have a little machine for carrying to workshops so I could keep piecing but I couldn't quilt. DH got me an early Christmas present so I now have a baby lock Symphony too!
