I am a slowpoke too...especially as a newbie learning the ins and outs of a new machine. After waiting nearly four years for a longarm, I am under no deadlines to get my quilts done so I take my time.

Watson, I have a Janome Artistic sit down 18, the speed settings on it are from 1 to 20, no stitch regulator, and I stitch at 4 on both ruler and free hand, sometimes at 5 on simple stippling. So don't feel bad.

    Thanks for the feedback, all.

I'll keep stitching at what works for me, of course. I was just interested.

Hey Watson: I, too, have a Tiara and stitch about at a 15 most of the time unless I am doing raw edge applique or stitching in the ditch around applique and then do around a 5. Slow poke for sure but accurate and it works for me. I typically use Bottom Line by Superior in the top and bobbin.

On my DM I set the speed about midway and still do not go as fast as I could. I would think it would be the same on what you are doing on your machine. Everyone has their own drummer and isn't that a good thing.
