If the curves are intimidating you, why don't you use rectangles and snowball the corners. It would give the same effect and be MUCH easier.

That is a really striking design, and her color choices will be really pretty! You can do it!

my daughter was like that, too, but i made a quilt for her older bro. and she asked me when does she get her quilt! his colors were black and white with some maroon (yayyyy for the Tx Aggies who won again this weekend.)
she saw a pattern i just got, and she likes it--north western new mexican. i was shocked that she likes the pattern i bought!! I know no pink in hers.

i really like the color choices your DD made.

I love those colors together! Do you know the name of the pattern? It looks worth the effort. Let us know how it turns out!

The name of the pattern is Urban Abacus from the blog Sewkindofwonderful as linked on page 1 of this thread. I have decided to get the ruler and make it as shown, but in my daughter's colors, of course.
I seriously thought about doing the snowball, but agree that since this is the first time in going on 3 yrs. of quilting that she has shown an interest at all, I really want to deliver the real thing. LOL
And it will be a special surprise to her as she is expecting the modified version.
