I would keep both of them and put it in a corner with some things to mend over it. While he's away it might be a found item or a friend asked if you wanted it. Has he bought any tools or fishing/hunting equip lately. It sounds awful but sometimes you have to break it in gently. Good Luck. Let us know what you do. Sue
