Keep both. You purchased it - it is yours. He is going on a trip, what kind, fishing, hunting, bowling, racing? We have our needs and I don't believe hiding anything from husband. Equal opportunity for both.

Sell? It depends on the meaning of "Sell".

Let me ask you this...does your husband have a hobby? Like, how many hammers does he have, or screwdrivers? Or how many fishing poles does he have? I never knew a man that had one of anything. So you need to keep both machines. You know, you always need a spare in case something happens to one, you always have a backup  I have about 15 machines, in various stages of aging, from a hand crank Singer, a treadle, a 30's Singer, on up to my computerized machines. Good luck and enjoy them both.

While hubby is away, the cat's will play. Keep both-after all, it's a collector's item and worth much later on than it even does today. Consider it an investment, which actually it is. Try it out, collector's items may be functional, no one said it couldn't be. Wouldn't it be worth a lot more if it was fully functioning. You have purchased an investment for your collective future. Let your pals in crime, while he's away, put it somewhere explainable. He doesn't have to know the price paid, or could it have even been a gift to you. He's away for 2 weeks, after all, you are not having an affair with anything but a machine. And, that's a very good thing.

Keep both ! Tell hubby..ride out the storm...he'll get over it.
Are there some hobbies of his that you can throw up to him that HE spends too much on? That usually shuts them up.
