Inexpensive Riser for my Sewing Machine
I have a Janome Platinum Gem which I love. Unfortunately, my work table is a little low, so I end up with a sore neck from bending over.
The other day I was at Dollar Tree and noticed foam knee pads in the gardening section. I took one home, slid it under my machine and it was the perfect height. It's got enough texture to stay firmly in place and the machine sits solidly on it as well. Yesterday I sewed for a couple of hours and am pain free!

Posture and height of our sewing machines as you found out is one very important thing. If I have my choice I like it setting higher than lower. I can raise my chair much easier. So glad you were able to sew without pain. You must be ready to stitch away!

My work table was too low for me and I used "elephant feet" chair/bed risers. They are really solid and when I am really hammering the machine speed, the table doesn't rock or vibrate. And it keeps the table steady when I have to leaver myself up from the chair after sewing too long!

My sewing table is the correct height but my bifocals were giving me fits with seeing the sewing guide lines. I purchased a pack of 4 door stops at the Dollar store. I use 2 of them at the back of my machine to tilt it slighty. It really helps me see those lines better and puts less strain on my neck and eyes.

I had my eye doctor give me a prescription for "computer glasses". I wear trifocals....and he made me a pair that only corrects for the mid and near vision. I told him I was a long arm quilter, that I also pieced and used a computer....I love them....can't walk in them too good but...for my sewing, they are absolutely wonderful....and well worth the money I spent on them
