I'll gladly tell you about both, if you don't mind a little bittersweet tale. :D A year ago this month we learned our DD was pregnant with her second child, at that time we also learned my Dad had terminal prostate cancer. While caring for my father I decided to make this quilt since it had applique and blanket stitching that I could easily work on while he was resting. Dad passed in May and I finished the quilt on Father's Day. This quilt was for my new DGS (dear grandson), he was born in August...on what would have been my parent's 56th wedding anniversary! Coincidence?, I think not! Liam is now a healthy 3 1/2 months old and both he and his quilt have eased me through a particularly difficult year. Thanks for asking :-) .

Quilting can indeed be theraputic. It has helped me through a few rough spots. My only granddaughter died in Aug. less than a month old. I had to put her quilt away. I've seen so many pictures and histories of mourning quilts. Some are very unique. Your picture of Liam is the most precious I have seen in quite a while. It is beautifully done, as is the baby, of course. WHAT A DOLL!!

Norah, first let me say my heart hurts for you! I don't want to even imagine what you must be going through.

That picture was a fluke. The day my DD brought him home from the hospital, we were laughing about how hard Liam sleeps. She said "look, Mom", and held her arm out and I snapped the pic. She didn't have them take his pic at the hospital because there are quite a few good photographers in our family (I am not one of them). This is the picture she sent in his announcement. It was taken with a simple Kodak Easyshare, no fancy equipment here!

Hi, ladies! I just purchased the Wonder-Under yesterday and it came with instructions! Here they are:

Step 1: Press & Cut
Place rough side of Wonder-Under against wrong side of fabric. Press for 5-8 seconds with hot, dry iron. Let cool, draw desired shape onto paper backing, then cut.

Alternative method: Trace shape onto paper backing, cut to size, then press, rough side-down, onto fabric (Note: To avoid backward letters and numbers, draw on rough side of Wonder-Under wtih ballpoint pen. For dark fabrics, redraw on paper side).

Step 2: Peel & Fuse
Gently peel off paper backing. Position fusible fabric, web side down, on the project. Cover with DAMP press cloth.

With iron on wool setting, press FIRMLY for 10-25 seconds. (Heavier fabric=more time) Repeat, lifting and overlappping iron until all fabric is fused.

Remove press cloth and iron fabric to eliminate excess moisture.

Tip: Use your damp press cloth as a temperature and timing guide. After 10 seconds, press cloth should be dry. If not, raise iron temperature or hold iron in place a few seconds longer.

Tip: With "fat/thin" or "heavy/light" fabric combinations, fuse from thinner or lighter side. If necessary, "baste" first by ironing on the right side.

Care instructions:

Washable, dry cleanable.

Machine wash Warm, Delicate cycle. Do not use fabric softener. Tumble dry low.

This can be used on wood or cardboard.
