I use fusible fleece. I get mine from Overstock.com. Unless you have a coupon for Joanns, I found it's the cheapest way to go. I use plastic cutting boards for the bottoms, the ones that bend. I get them from the dollar store.

I use Pellon fusible fleece. The idea about the cutting boards from the dollar store goes on my list of things to try.

I've used STIFFY and it works really good. Hard to handle at first but over time it softens, but maintains the shape. I bought a bolt(37yds) (sometime back) for a$1.00 yd.

I've always used the pellon 987 that's called for on the Bow Tucks pattern. I think I have some other stuff but I've never tried any of it. I bought 5 yds today with my 50% coupon. Online JoAnns had it for $2.49 but of course it was out of stock. I thought about using warm and natural with spray basting but it's expensive also.

I quilt my fabric onto batting. Using poly batting gives makes it a little stiffer. It's more time, but each one is much more personalized and I don't use anything else on them. I started using home dec for purses and I like that the best. I only use stabilizer on the opening of the purse. It has a much better weight to it than quilting cotton.
