Iron the left side, then rotate and iron the right. Have only made a queen size so far, but I can't imagine this method not working. Or else try it on the floor I guess.

I set my ironing board next to the side of my bed the extra is on it, works for me.

Just be careful. I was trying to work with one not quite that large yesterday that was flannel. Managed to throw out my back.

I made a large ironing board and that helps. Before that I used a 5' long folding table that I covered with an old quilt which I pinned to itself underneath to keep it in place. However, it was still a chore.

I have not read thru all the postings yet....but how about setting up your ironing board next to the dining room table, kitchen table or kitchen counter.

Set your ironing board up against your biggest bed. Let the ironed quilt parts fold over onto the bed. Better yet, if you have a king-size bed, put the quilt on the bed and iron it while it's on the bed. Start in the middle and work out on all sides. I've ironed on the bed lots of times.
