issues with my Bernia
All of a sudden when sewing on my Bernina activa 230 the feed dogs quit working.... and then they start again.
I had been doing some free motion, but I engaged the feed dogs when I was done. It feels like the fabric doesn't want to move and just sits under the needle and keeps sewing... It doesn't do it all the time, When I try a scrap fabric it will work sometimes... I have cleaned , oiled, changed needle , rethreaded both bobbin and needle... any other suggestions... other than the repairman... thanks

I would do as Prism says. If that doesn't do it, it might be time for a service appt. I've had 2 berninas. I sew on a 180 now. They are very reliable but still need regular servicing. If I'm sewing a lot, I try to get mine in once a year.

I won a Bernina 230, too. It's my main machine. Sometimes the feed dogs get knocked so they won't come up high enough. Sometimes the feed dog stepping motor has issues. Or the connection from the circuit board to the stepping motor may be loose. When you say, "you've cleaned," does that include removing the needle plate, and cleaning under the feed dogs? I've seen some very packed feed dogs, and the owners didn't know they were suppose to clean under the needle plate. I hope you're able to get it going.

ok. So I got my little pipe cleaner straw out and really cleaned... wow there was a lot of stuff in there... I had it cleaned professionally not long ago.... makes me wonder what he did, or if it has gotten that bad that quickly... when finished I found this laying on my bobbin door...omg... now what.. My husband said to sew with it and see what happens... Man it sews like a charm now... but don't know where this little spring goes.... guess my repairman and I will renew our friendship

Depending on the frequency you quilt on your Bernina, it should go in for servicing at least every 12 to 18 months. I got so many dust bunnies in the back right corner, that my baby stopped sewing. I was delighted with just having to pay only a cleaning service and not any replaced parts!!
