Default It's not quite summer, but I need a snowflake block pattern ASAP!!!

Gals, I need your help. My 5 quilting "sistas" are getting together this coming Tuesday to plan a round robin-type snowflake quilt project. I need a 12" and a 6" snowflake block patterns, and have been scouring the web, googling, checking out the LQS, but STILL haven't found a snowflake block that turns my crank.

I love this sample - http://sampaguitaquilts.blogspot.ca/...and-stars.html - but don't know how to get the pattern.

Any help with snowflake block patterns, or appropriate fabrics for a snowflake quilt would be appreciated. I'm keeping an open mind (I just hope nothing falls out!)

    Thanks, "a flaky quilter".

Snowflakes are 6 sided. If the pattern has 8 points it'll look more like a star than a snowflake.

OK, not to be nit-picky (but doing it any way...) a snowflake has 6 sides, not 8. The sample is really lovely, but doesn't look like a snowflake to me....

Here's a link to a free paper pieced version:
    http://www.quiltmaker.com/webextras/...t79/index.html
    See, six sides!
you can resize the pattern to whatever size you need, but since it's a hexagon and it sounds like you are looking for a square you would need to add fabric to square it up.

You quilters are AWESOME!!!! I absolutely love the two paper pieced snowflakes you have given me. It's exactly what I was looking for!!! I would then add corners of the background to make it a square. I was stuck in the same place that Scissorsqueen and Paperprincess mentioned - snowflakes are six sided, and blocks are four sided. But this solves that problem......love you guys!!!!!

If you like the 2 free snowflakes, here's a link to the whole throw pattern. Not free, but really nice. It's on my bucket list

It isn't a pieced block, but I had snowflakes on my mind today too.
    I got this: http://www.daystyledesigns.com/winte...rlandquilt.htm

Oh my word! Those quilts shown by paperprincess and skittl1321 are now on my list. Thanks for the explanation of the star 8 sides and the snowflake 6. It makes sense now. Thanks to all of you. Teresa
