I've done it AGAIN--Don-isewman
I've been commissioned to do another hand quilting project. The 1st project was to hand quilt a appliqued butterfly quilt. My 2nd project was for a friend, to make him/wife a wall hanging quilt out of T-shirts. I'm doing my 3rd hand quilting project. A G flowerGarden. The hex's are the size of a quarter, plus 3/16th more. I received this quilt, either wed, or thur. And have 1 1/2 flowers done, already. The diamonds thru out the quilt, I'm just hand quilting point to point/thru the center. Take care everyone, and have a nice holidays comming up. It measures 70 x 96. Heres a ?? I've given her a price. Just curious as to what other think for a price. After hearing from some of you's. I will let yous know what I told her.

I'm handquilting a GMFG, 1 1/4 inch hexies, quilting 1/4 inch from each seam..80x90 inches....she is paying me 4 figures. I quilt 2-3 hrs a day..for 6 months, plus appliqueing the edge . It's been fun. I take it camping,on trips etc. It's been more places than the owner.

I just had my DH come and take a peek at this. His first words were, "YARN. Use yarn and tie it every foot or so." I have hand quilted a few, and knowing the time and effort that goes into this four figures would not me out of the question. I, however, would not be brave enough to ask for that and would probably settle around the $600 figure. Then, my DH would no doubt have me committed to the nearest funny farm. I think it's all in how much you enjoy doing it

I am like the others here this morning, isewman, (are you a man doing this quilting?) charge too much for someone to bring me something like that (and take three years working on it); but good on you. I look forward to seeing your finished product.

Who ever did the top created a lovely quilt. Your hand quilting will really put this over the edge. Many years ago I had a queen sized DWR hand quilted and paid in the mid 3 figures. I do hope you charge what you should be getting. This will be a long project, but I know you're up for it.
