Have you joined the Janome yahoo group? [email protected]
There are several out there for different models of Janomes. All of them helpful. What stitches are you trying to adjust, embroidery or regular stitching? Skipped stitches usually is the wrong needle size for the thread and or project. For example, if FMQ, you need a 90/14. Types of thread also dictate the size/type needle you are using.

Also check that the top and bobbin threads are the same weight thread.

Take the bobbin out and check for a little blob of lint under the bobbin. Happened to me :-)

Sometimes skipping stitches is because of the needle. Did you put a new needle in? The needle also has to be the right size for the project. I piece with a size 11 needle but I quilt with a 14, especially when sewing the binding on. I generally use a 40 or 50 weight thread for piecing and a 30 or 40 weight thread for quilting. Matching the thread to the needle is very important in getting a good stitch.
