janome 2160dc machine help
Hi everyone, can anyone tell me why would anyone change the presser foot pressure dial while quilting, what does it do to the sewing of a quilt. what does the other settings e.g. 1,2,4,5,6 do

you want enough pressure to keep the fabric against the feed dogs for movement, but not so much that the fabric drags against the foot. thus, a thicker sandwich may need less pressure. you'd have to check your manual for the designation of the numbers.

#1 Will be light tension, with #6 heavy tension. If you're doing free-motion quilting, you can take it to #1. If you're using a walking foot, usually #6 will work better. #5 is probably what you use for piecing a quilt and most other sewing. You may go to #3 is you were sewing on a sheer fabric.
