I've had the 6500 for a few years and love it. The price is much too high. I got mine at my quilt shop. It was a floor model and I paid $900.

that is way to much for that machine. New maybe...

If you are thinking about the 6500 wait till you have your pennies in hand and get the 6600.

........... better still the 8200, as is much the same, with many improvements over the 6600 forerunner

I don't think the price is good. However, I have a 6500 and love it. I purchased it the 2nd year it was out which I think was sometime between 2003 and 2005. Have not had one bit of problem with it. My only complaint is that the manual is not very good. It is not detailed enough. If you do not like the salesman, I can see where that would be a problem. It would cause me some concern as well. The machine is great, but maybe not this particular deal.

I bought mine new for less than that with the lessons included. I just sold mine for $650.00 and it was four years old. I loved the machine, but I already have two other Janomes and wanted to get a Bernina.

that is not a good price. for a machine considering the 'newer' version, 6600P came out in 2005. which is when I got my new 6600P. I am considering getting another 'new 6600P'. not that the other one is worn out, just not a pretty lady any more. way tooooo many miles on her, just like the rest of us.!!!

I think you'd be happier with the 6600P, as that duel feed is a real plus. Or look at the 8900 -- newest one out, and perhaps you could get a deal. But the 6600P is a real workhorse, and great for any kind of sewing. It's all you need. The 8900 has more bells and whistles and a somewhat better feeding system, but you have to decide if the price is worth all the extras, and whether you would even use the extras.

I was just at a dealership with an overbearing, obnoxious salesman, and I decided not to go back the store because of it. But I wrote the store manager a letter telling him about my experience, and received an apology, as well as the news that the salesman is now gone. Now they are begging me to come back. I haven't decided.
