Several of you might already know this but, after a few years of owning a Janome 6500, I have discovered there is a feature which will have the needle in the 'needle down position'. The needle up and down arrow button I have always used to pull my bobbin through but I am doing a project which calls for a needle down position which I have always done by hand. I finally got my machine directions out and read that if you push the button, which will light up the orange dot on that button and leave it on, when you sew the needle will finish in the needle down position.
I just thought this was so cool I had to share it.

I don't have that model, but do have a Janome ... and absolutely love that option. When sewing and stopping, better to stop with the needle down, less risk for the fabric to slip.

When I bought that machine, I was told that we never adjust the machine with the wheel. Not sure if that's just a not need to ... or not good for the machine? Anyone know?

I just bought a Brother which has the same option. It comes with the needle down in place.

In addition to the needle down, I also have the knee lever that raises the pressure foot!!! Love my Janome.

Yes, I love the needle down function and the knee lift for the pressure foot, but most of all I love the thread cutter!! That is such a time and thread saver!!

This is one feature I look for when buying a machine.

Have a Janome - but haven't used the knee lever. What is the benefit of using it?
