Janome Horizon owners

I was talking to my local dealer and they told me that the 7700 was going to be being discontinued since the 8900 is out so you may be able to find a good deal on one. They also told me that there is an 8200 out but that they won't carry it until they can no longer get the 7700 because it is in between the 6600 and the 7700 as far as features.
I currently have the 6600 and the 11000 and was thinking about trading my 6600 for the 8900 but my dealer is offering me such a great deal that I am trading my 11000 (that I bought used) for a 12000 and keeping my 6600, which I LOVE

Memory Craft 6600 - $1999
Horizon 8200 - $2999
Horizon 8900 - $3999
While I would LOVE the 8900, the 6600 is more in my budget.

I bought mine in 2010, and unfortunately, I got one of the "lemons" mentioned in an earlier post. In the first 6 mos, I had it in for 3 major repairs. Finally, fed up, I wrote directly to Janome, and they arranged for a replacement. I haven't had a problem since. I really like the huge harp space, the extra lighting and the accufeed system. I wish it was quicker to change among the accufeed/FMQ/normal feet, and also wish it was quicker to get the plate off to clean out the bobbin area, but other than that, I love it.
I'm quilting a baby quilt now, and decided to use a bunch of the decorative stitches with a variegated thread. Didn't have to touch a thing; tension has been perfect! And my FMQ skills have improved a lot since getting "Sara"!

Horizon 7700
I just bought one online at Ebay, the seller said it worked perfect
Well, I cannot get good stitching on " AUTO" which is supposed to
be working so I have to turn the thread tension to 5- that isn't great
in my book, I will hopefully learn how to conquor the issues but I wouldn't
buy it again, I would buy a 6500 or 6600
Hope this helps
There is a yahoo site for 7700 buyers and you can read the issues there

I had the 7700 for 2 years, just upgraded to the 8900 Horizon. My dealer took the 7700 in trade and I felt I got a very good deal. If you can afford it or have something to trade in, do take a look at the 8900. It is such an amazing machine, very quiet and so smooth. The walking foot is separate not built in, so that annoying piece of metal is not there by the side of the needle. The throat plate comes off with the push of a button, no wrestling with a screw driver to remove it. It has a 9mm zig zag ( one of the largest) so the embroidered numbers and letters are actually legible--large enough to make quilt labels. I am so in love with this machine. Even makes a welted buttonhole. Same size as the 7700 has a large foot pedal--a nice improvement. It is like they took the 7700 and made everything much better.

I've had mine for 2 years and love it. I did have to have the pc board in mine replaced at its first service as the screen had been flickering. It didn't affect the operation but was just annoying. I've never seen anyone else report this problem. It's been fine since they changed it (under warranty). Some folks did have problems with the earlier releases but I haven't seen as many complaints lately so I assume most have been resolved. Would I buy it again? I sure would

You can not go wrong with Janome! I bought the first 6600 our dealer sold several years ago and have never had a problem with it. Also, had a Jem gold and gave it to my grand daughter when she married. Bought a Bernina, and wish I had the old one back. Tried to exchange it for the one I gave away, but she did not want to change!

Thanks snipforfun. I looked at the yahoo group but have not joined yet. I noticed they have a sister group for just the 7700. Are you a member of the Janome 6500 group? I have never joined one of yahoo's groups before and always a little hesitant before doing something like that. It took me over a year to join the QB....lol
