I agree, some people don't have access to a variety of sewing machine dealers. At least, they will have a local store to go back to if there are problems, at least I assume Joann's will be there for support (somewhat). There are no local Janome dealers here so can appreciate it being available at Joann's.

If the price is the same, I would support the Janome dealer, as you will get service there. That will not be available at JAF

Competition is good ladies! Just because you can find an product in JoAnn's does not devalue the product. JoAnn's carries many of the same notions as my LQS but I buy at JoAnn's because I can get it cheaper, especially with my coupons.

I think Janome allows certain models to be sold by anybody (Amazon, Joann's, etc.), but their higher end models are only available through a dealer.

It's mostly the JoAnn Supercenters that have other sewing machines than Singer. The dealer rents space from JoAnns. I've seen several of the higher end brands in these locations.

My JA rents floor space to Viking, not affiliated with JA.

I have seen Janome's, Singers and other machines at Hancock Fabric too. So it is not just Joanne's that are selling machines.
I have seen Vikings being sold at Joanne's for years now!

The Viking dealership has a spot in the JoAnn's store in Anchorage but it is not part of JoAnn's. Singer, Viking & Pfaff all are owned by SVP but remain as separate stores. In fact, there is competition between the Viking & Pfaff dealerships in Kenai, AK.

Since Viking became SVP, you'd think JoAnn would have Pfaff.
