    I would not risk prewashing precuts, like 2-1/2" strips. you will lose too much of them into strings and distortions

    Don't prewash. You would have a mess on your hands.

    Straight or on a diagonal, I've seen both, but I've also seen it where there has been a 2 1/2in block sewn between each strip, (all the same colour) and I liked that too.

    No, do not prewash. i know on some of the charm square packs, it says "do not prewash" . Good luck with your quilt, i love the look of that pattern,either way you choose to do it!

    Been asking myself this same question. Have seen done both ways. Perhaps it might depend on the spirit of the fabrics' designs. Someone mentioned above seeing a small block placed between each strip - like that. Still easy, but steps it up a notch.
