Jelly Roll
#1
I just bought my first Jelly Roll to make a kid quilt... Actually what I'm going to do is have all the students in my co-teacher's class draw and color wedding pictures of the couple, her bouquet, the cake, or anything wedding related. I plan to incorporate their creations into the quilt as square centers. The jelly roll seemed like a good idea at the time (did I make a mistake?). I figured I would frame their pictures with the different batik fabrics with purple (her favorite color) as the main border and backing.
I don't have a pattern to use with the jelly roll to go around square centers. Any ideas? The squares could be as big as 8.5 inches, or just small centers remembering that the smaller I make the squared centers the less detail of their drawings there will be.
Oh, did I forget to mention that it will be a wedding gift?

Hi shopbelt. I did a similar thing with a baby quilt. Used 5" centers, differeng 2" borders around each one, then offset the squares and put 1/2 squares on the ends of every other row.
4 blocks
1/2 block, 3 blocks, 1/2 block
Turned out really cute.
