    Most jelly rolls and similar 2.5 inch strip bundles have 40 strips. This seems to be sort of a "standard." A few rolls, like Fabric Freedom's batik strippers have more, in that case, 50 strips.

    A jelly roll with 40 strips is approximately 2 1/4" yards. So if your project requires less than that, you should be fine.
