Yes, heard about the Willowbrook store, just 1.5 hr. trip for me. I usually weigh in the travel/gas time like postage when out shopping, it all adds up. I will be at the Quilt Show in Houston in November to see what will be out, and can visit all the local shops at the show. In one stop shopping!

Sorry to hear about your JoAnn's. I know how disappointed I was when Humble lost it's Hancock's. They're the only store I've found that stocks black batting, and I do a lot with black. So I have to go to the Pasadena store when I run out.

The Humble Hobby Lobby stocks pretty good fabrics. I get all my Kona cottons there. And their seasonal stuff is usually pretty good.

Get your tush to that store!! You can buy the pattern cabinets, usually really reasonable. They are perfect for storing your fat quarters! They always relocate with all new fixtures. Use your imagination, girls. There's lots you can do with used store fixtures!

Maybe Hobby Lobby will pick up the slack, the Katy JoAnn's that is going out is about a half mile from the store. The quilt shop and Hancock are on S. Mason not far away. Have you tried Connecting Threads on line for the black batting? I recently got batting from them and it was very nice, on sale.

I know someone who works at Joanns. This is what they had to say. I can't name them, as they are being careful, but they allowed me to copy and paste their answer to my question.

Total rumor. But don't take my word (I couldn't tell you even if I knew differently)-- here's a link to the investor info, which calls for a continuing strategy of closing older stores and opening new ones with overall gain in number of stores: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix....&p=irol-IRHome
