The thread count is very low in their fat quarters. If you look closely and compare it to better fabric, you will see the difference.

I've only bought bundles there. So the singles are even worse? yikes.

I'v never had a problem with any that I have bought there.
Usually handwash, hang to dry.

One FQ I used shrank so badly when I pressed the block that I had to rip and replace the pieces with another fabric. Try not to buy them if I can help it.

I've bought some that were OK and some that were a disappointment. I don't like the FQs that already have the selvages trimmed off. Also had some from JoAnn's that I couldn't get the tackiness from the labels off of the fabric. BAH!!

I stopped wasting my money on them for all the reasons listed. Admittedly, there are a few that catch my eye, by the calicos but they don't come home with me. I have purchased the bundled ones and was pleased with those.

I agree. I actually went there this weekend and Hancock's as well. I think the quality of "some" of the Joann's fabric has gone downhill (even on the bolt) and I think Hancock's has gotten even worse, terribly thin. Unfortunately, sometimes they have the "one" and I go with it, but like others I always pre-wash it just to be safe.

I love fat quarters, but I feel them first. If they feel too thin or look too thin, I just pass. But most of my quilts have been made from fat quarters from JoAnn's and I have NEVER had one problem. I personally think that the fat quarter bundles from JoAnn's (with coupon only, of course) are a better quality also. And whoever/whomever/(whatever) puts them together does a beautiful job of matching and blending. The fat quarters against the wall at our JoAnn's are a mixture of everything and you just have to feel! Edie

the bundled ones are better than the single "square" folded ones.

I bought several and many were too small to be fat quarters once I washed and ironed them. Starching did not even work. Some of them were very thin, and some weren't.
