I'm going to use fleece as the back of a quilt that I'm going to tie, it's going to have a thick batting as I only want 2 or 3 blankets on my bed this winter instead of 10, but anyway, I was looking at the fleece at Joann's, and I don't know which to get, the blizzard or the anti pill. As I'm trying to keep the cost to a minimum, I'm leaning toward their blizzard lilac tye dye, as I want a solid color (no print) backing and it's on sale. However, if the anti pill is better, I'll save up for that. Anybody use either of these or any suggestions where I could get fleece cheaper?

The solid color blizzard is $7.99/yd, the anti pill $8.99/yd, and the tie dye is on sale for $4.99/yd. I need 4 1/2 yards (that's figuring in extra) so the price is getting higher and higher. If I only needed a yard or 2, I'd go with the anti pill as it's the exact color I want. But I like the look of the tie die and the blizzard solid purple is almost the right color.

    Sorry for the rambling!!

You are only talking about $1.00 per yard more, or $4.50 so I would have hot dogs or mac and cheese one night and get the one that matches perfectly and what you want.

lisa, I still live in my parents house and will be going to college next year. I'm allowed $20 every 2 weeks spending from what I earn and the rest goes to college (which I understand, but don't always like) but I get paid tomorrow and I still have the money from 2 weeks ago. And I still need to buy batting which is about another $25. And I had to tell myself I wouldn't start another project until this one is done

Do you get the coupons? That way you could get both.... on 2 different transactions.

If I understand you correctly, you're asking what the difference is between the various types of fleece and also how well each will wear, right?

I've always wondered that myself. I only buy fleece on Black Friday when it's ~2.00 a yard at JoAnns...ok, so it's been a few years since I bought fleece. :)

Now I have several types in my stash and I'm not even sure if I should mix them because some feel lighter then others.

So, I'll be watching this topic to see what others say.

a clerk at jo-anns told me there isnt much difference betwen them as far as anti-pill goes, and to go whith the lesser expensive.
i dont have first hand experience though.

I like them both. I go with the color I want, but I actually like the Blizzard a little better. I used the lilac tiedye on the back of a fleece blanket at Christmas time. It's been washed multiple times as it's the carry around blankie and the mother is a clean freak as I was when I had babies. It is holding up well. Blizzard is fine and the tiedye is a great blender. Use your coupon on the batting if it's not on sale. JoAnn's has some decent packaged batting.

I could be totally off of the mark, but I thought anti-pill was not supposed to get those little balls on the fleece that sometimes happen when fleece is washed and dried several times.
