Red face JOY:) I can now prewash and dry my quilt fabric in a washer and dryer

My niece has given me her old washer and dryer, only 10 year old. Hooray!!! The ones I had been using were over 30 years old, tied fabric and clothes in knots, the washer leaked and dryer walked across the floor making terrible screeching noises. Should also help eliminate with the hours of ironing.

What a good niece! Isn't it great to recycle and get pre-loved items? Use them in good health.

    Wonderful for you LadyElizabeth !!
Gosh...got me thinking to the days when we were growing up - no dryer - hung clothes out, even in winter as long as it wasn't raining ! They freeze - and when they thaw they're pretty much dry. Had a "laundry stick" to pull the clothes out of the hot water in the washer - move to "stationary tubs" to rinse - we had a ringer machine for all those years (you young folks won't know what that is ) ....and yet now i have a wonderful washer and dryer - and i STILL can't seem to keep up with the laundry !!!!!

Goodness I'm glad you got a working set. I'm spoiled to new appliances every few years. DH work for an electric utility and says the new appliances at least every five years saves money and power use, especially refrigerators. I change out dishwashers more then anything. They don't last long. I think it's our water.

Congratulations! I do envy you - I have to leave my apartment and walk down the hall to a laundry room. We just recently got a front loader, so I'm thrilled to be able to wash small pieces of fabric now. I'll be thinking of you having fun with your new applicances.
