Especially if you use freezer paper with waxy side down. When you press the freezer paper to the fabric it stays put and doesn't move. I made a mariner's compass using this method with freezer paper and I loved the result and the process of no tearing. Additionally you can use the pattern pieces over about 4 or 5 times before they lose their stick. To make the pattern on FP you put several pieces together (I do about 4) and hit them with the tip of a hot iron to make them stick together. Then take your original pattern piece and tape it to the top so it won't shift and sew on the lines with no thread in the needle. It is an awesome way to do it. Judy Mathieson explains it very clearly with pictures and text, in her Mariner's Compass Book, Setting a new course. I have also found tutes on the web on it.

Yes, I started out using freezer paper and ironing it on the fabric. Then my husband decided he just had to have a laser jet printer (what was wrong with the old printer, I'll never know) and freezer paper isn't compatible with laser jets. Now I use vellum; it's easy to see through, I can fold right on the printed line. I just use a dab of glue stick to keep it on the fabric.
