does the juki 98Q have a 1/4 " foot? Is it easy to do a quarter inch seam on this machine? Just considering buying one.

It has the 1/4" marked on the machine bed. I found that I line the fabric up just a hair before the 1/4" mark to allow for the fabric that is in the "bend" of the seam allowance.

yes, it has a 1/4 foot and you can do piecing on the machine with ease.

the only thing i would add is that its a straight stitch only machine so if you like to do blanket or satin stitch applique you wouldn't be able to do it with this machine.

i use mine on a quilting frame and then i have a juki F600 for piecing.

both of these machines cost the same.

here's a link to the juki i piece with

I have 1/4" with mine, mine is also on frame so don't use it.

I have one but use it on a frame also. It is a workhorse. I love mine. Before the frame I did use it to piece and it worked wonderfully.

I have used my 1/4 inch foot, but I prefer using a stack of sticky notes on the 1/4 inch line. I can line up the fabric longer that way. I love mine, both to piece and to quilt. Once I get a long arm, it will still be my primary machine!
