Juki TL-2010Q

I have this machine, and when I use the thread cutter, I can't even see the bobbin thread sticking up out of the needle hole, so I'm wondering what you mean about 1/8" long. If I need thread tails, I don't use the cutter.
If I've used the cutter, and then for some reason I need the bobbin thread pulled up, I sew on a scrap for 1/2" or so, and then pull it away and cut the thread manually.

Just got mine for Christmas. I, too, am using it for free motion. I have never freemotioned in my life and set this up, using Crafty Gemeni's free motion video's on YouTube, and guess what? I am free motion quilting! I have wanted this machine for 3 years and it is all it's cracked up to be. Go for it!

I have a Juki 2010 that I got for a Christmas gift and it has speed control, I love it! Perfect tension from day one! I love the thread cutter too, all I have to do is rock back on the foot pedal and it cuts the thread for me! Addictive. Best machine ever, highly recommend. It's been officially discontinued,v it's still on Amazon and several dealers have it, but Juki replaced it with the 2200 MVP Mini which is identical except for cosmetic changes. I prefer the 2010 cause it's plain white and I sew in the living room so it blends in better.
