    Yep, I've done it for miles too, after about the 3rd time on the same quilt I learned to really listen to my machines. On the other hand one of my embroidery machines likes to tell me the bobbin is almost empty when it's still half full. When I first got it I think I stopped what I was doing to check the bobbin 3 or 4 times at the beep before I figured out it likes to give a false alarm.

    Unfortunately, there isn't a signal until air is sewn. I have heard of people using a full bobbin on the top and the bottom, so when the top gets low you know you are close. Mine does rattle a little when the bobbin is low.
