I have a question not really about the needle exactly but about the foot. Does the machine sew a quarter inch with the foot that comes on the machine? I don't mean an accessory, but the main foot. And if not, can that foot be replaced with one that does sew 1/4 inch? I hope I'm clear on what I'm asking.

mine is narrower than 1/4" and I prefer it that way. I like to be able to see the edges of the fabric when I sew, and I know that when I have about 1/16th showing, I'm where I want to be. And that way if I need to go a bit narrower or wider, it's easy to do.

My machine came with several other feet, so I assume there is a 1/4" foot out there if someone prefers using it. It's got a high shank, but I don't know if it's different than other high shank machine. I know a lot about what fits vintage machines, not much about modern ones.

Thank you, Cathy. I would rather have that foot than the 1/4" foot which is why I was hoping it measured 1/4". I was told it was a 1/5" foot. I did see a 1/4" marking on the soleplate. Oh well. I wonder how many people are stitching thinking they are sewing 1/4".

I have the same Juki and I've been using the needles that came with it. I believe they are 14's. I bought a large quantity on Amazon and my machine does well with them.

Jaiade- I only use that machine for quilting. I haven't done any piecing to speak of but thanks for the heads up.
