Thanks for the info! It seems like I would use the larger one more.

I love my shape cut. I wish a got a commission on them. When I teach a class and the students see how quick and easy there are to use they get one too. I use it so much I have to think twice about how to use my other rulers. LOL

I have used mine enough that the keyhole part where you insert the rotary cutter has been chewed up by my carelessness. I use it way more than I thought I would and am thinking about getting the bigger one. I took a workshop with Eleanor Burns several years ago and asked her how she cut the strips she gave us for the workshop and she said they used these.

You are welcome Dee Dee. I have to wait a couple of weeks to get one but I am looking forward to getting and using one. I didn't realize all the different shapes could be cut until I saw the video. I thought it was just straight cuts.

I love love love mine. Especially for fat quarters, but I use all size of cuts up to and ove a yard. I use our deep freezer for a cutting table so I've got lots of room.

I have both and use all the time. Wouldn't it be wonderful if they made as long as folded fabric it. I would snatch that up so fast!

I think I'm more confused now than I was when this thread started. Comments like "I have the large one" or "I have both" or "I wish it was as long as folded fabric" don't make sense to me. There are many different sizes of the Shape Cut and the slots that you put your rotary cutter in to make the cuts are different widths apart depending on which model you have. It would be very helpful for me if the specific model is stated. Here's the list with MSRP of the June Tailor general purpose rulers:

    JT-777 Shape Cut™ Pro Ruler
    $64.20

    JT-783 Fancy Fleece™ Ruler
    $31.99

    JT-789 Fringe Cut™ Ruler
    $31.99

    Dresden Express™ Ruler

    JT-790 Dresden Express™ 16 Ruler
    $14.49

    JT-791 Dresden Express™ 12 Ruler
    $16.59

    JT-792 Mini Fringe Cut™ Ruler
    $16.99

    JT-793 Shape Cut™ Too
    $27.89

    JT-794 Quarter Cut™
    $36.39

    JT-795 Precision Quilting Rule™
    $13.89

    JT-796 Shape Cut™
    $33.49

    JT-797 Shape Cut™ Plus
    $38.99

    JT-799 Diamond Cut -
    A Girl's Best Friend Ruler
    $19.29

Notice all the different models of the Shape Cut. And there is one that is the length of folded yardage--the Shape Cut Pro which interests me but the slots are spaced at 2.5 inch intervals. Great if you're cutting your own jelly rolls, charms & layer cakes but not log cabin strips or 9" 9 patches. I would like one the size of the "Pro" but with slots that are only 1/2 inch apart and 1/4 inch would be better.

Also, I have had a ruler that wasn't marked accurately. Has anyone measured their Shape Cut against a known good tape measure for accuracy?

Is there a certain size rotary cutter that must be used with the shape cut ruler?
