Just a confession and warning...

One of my very first quilts, I made a really bad mistake right in the middle of the quilt...did not notice until it was completed. I drew a tulip and hand appliquéd it to the center. I have gotten more compliments on that tulip than any other quilt.. some times a mistake is an opportunity in disguise.

Don't feel bad, I just took one off the frame, It is done with panels. It fits a queen sized bed, but woops the panels are facing sideways and when turned right, the quilt lacks about 12 in on top and bottom. Haven't decided what I am going to do yet, but stuff happens.

LOL, One of my first quilts, I did this also. But, I never noticed till I was all finished quilting and binding it. It was for my son. It is still on his bed. It doesn't harm anything. I still laugh about it.

Bless your heart.
I'm so sorry this happened. But I understand it. We get too close to what we're making, I think and sometimes just can't "see".
Who says the back has to be like the pages of a book? Instead of a turn, you'll have a flip. I think it won't matter....and in fact, can be interesting.
I sewed a back on crooked once, and it was a print that showed it was crooked, too. I didn't discover it until it was quilted and no way was I ripping it out. It taught me something, though, to check and recheck the backing, especially if directional or a print with lines. So, I suppose no experience, no matter how bitter, is meaningless.....if that's not too Pollyannaish.
