I have done quite a few quilts on my Tin Lizzie. But today I bought some cheap 108 cotton at walmart and I'm just gonna practice. No worrying, no stress. Just relax and practice my feathers.

I need help on how to follow stencil lines though. I can free hand just fine, but I'd like to be able to use some of my stencils and pounce for a couple future WIP tops. I reallu have trouble staying on the lines.

Any tips on that would be appreiciated.

I'm no help.....Just encouraging you to practice to get comfortable with what you want to quilt. Enjoy the day!!

Don't try so hard to stay on the lines. Once it is all done being close is good enough. Don't watch where the needle is, always try to keep your eyes an inch or two ahead your hands will follow where you are looking. Below is a close up of border work I did with a stencil where you can still see the chalk a bit. Believe me, I drifted off the line quite a bit but as you can see the overall effect doesn't show it. Especially when you do a lot background work. All your eye takes in is the main motif not each line that makes the motif up.

Border done with stencil and then background pebbling

I agree with feline and the more you quilt, the easier it will be.
