I just shared it with my friends in my quilt group, on Facebook, and on Flickr. They should get waaaaaaaay more than 1800 blocks. I'm going to try for 10. Anyone up for a friendly competition? :D

Spoke with my Tuesday group today and we are all in! After they make the blocks, I'm going to collect them and mail them in. I knew they would come through on this. We have done many quilts for the soldiers over the years.

I got the blue one done and am going to do a red one. It is fast and easy, and for such a good cause. Way to go, all quilters out there.

Great project and I'm happy everyone is jumping on board. The US Sanitation Committee did the same thing for soldiers in the hospitals during the Civil War. It worked then, it'll work now.

Just a quick question for clarification. On the patter when making the flying geese patch it shows only trimming the blue corner - is this correct? It would dmake a double layer there, so not sure if this is what is meant. Anyone have any ideas? Or how is everyone doing it? Want to get it right. Thanks.

Some people leave the background layer on behind the star point as they show in the picture. Some people (most everyone I know ) cut both of the bottom layers off and then just have one layer of star point. I haven't made mine yet, but will probably do it he way I always do and cut off both.
I think it's up to you.
