I don't put spit on anything. Even though I've jabbed pins/needles into my fingers, I've never bled onto a quilt. If I did, I'd use cold water, before spit. When threading a needle, I snip off the end just before inserting it into the needle. IF the thread still gives trouble, I may press the very end of it between my chap-stick-ed lips.

No one mentioned flipping pages in a book or a pattern, separating the fabric when it is folded or you are working on 2-1/2" squares, not to mention straightening out that cowlick on the top of your head, wiping a spot on your glasses. And hey, we're not dirty! We all have good clean spit.......at least that's what my mom said when she spit on her finger and wiped the dirt off my face. She died at 97 on July 25, 2013 and it is my honor to remember that. Edie

If you are using hot glue (not for quilting) and need to touch it to adjust something, it won't stick to you if you lick your finger first! My CSI DH tells our family that I put a little DNA in everything I make.

That is something to remember, how many times have I been using hot glue, just a dot of it burns, so much of the time I am not working with anymore than small dots of it. Thanks for sharing that one, will come in handy.

I just used the spit on blood trick for the first time the other night. It was amazing. The blood disappeared before my eyes. I guess it is on all my hand quilting threads too - how else can you thread those tiny needles.
