    Personally, I would be wary of using windex on plexiglass rulers.

    It's my understanding that windex can cloud plexiglass. For example, I've read in many places not to use it on your TV screen.

    Haven't done this with my rulers (I also hang them on a pegboard), but I have done this with my thread. I have 2 hanging thread holders on the side of a cabinet. At the top I have attached clear plastic (the thinnest vinyl tablecovering). This hangs over the front. It is easy to see the thread and keeps all the dust and grime off the thread.
