My Mom has purchased the Amish Black for an Amish-style quilt she was making. The fabric was great. A true, deep, rich black. She had no problems with it.

Prism99, HoP has a quantity discount for Kona solids...meaning if you buy one yard or more it's 1.99, as opposed to 2.49, per half yard. That goes for all the colors...and they do carry all the colors. Oh, and the 44" is broadcloth, too.

Thanks, ghostrider. I'm going to order the 44" from Hancock's of Paducah, I think.

If your quilt is batik, then i would use the black batik. The fabrics would be compatiable. I user a lot of the batik blacks - mostly Hoffman and find they blend wonderfully well with other batiks. Guess it depends on how and where you will use the black. If it is mixed in with other fabrics, since it is solid it might stand out more than you want.

I bought 3 bolts of black batik from Timeless Treasures. I love it for borders and binding and have not had any problems with it. It is a tighter weave than the Amish black (which I have also used) and the batik is also lighter weight. My avatar has the black batik and has been through the washing machine and dryer with no problems.
