The brand name is Wonderfil. I do not know anything about them really. When I finish what I have, I will be returning to Coats and Clark.

I have had the knots happen with several different brands. Mostly it was joining two different segments of thread to make a continuous thread. A couple of times, the knot slipped all the way through the machine guides, tension and stopped at the needle. It was a surprise for sure.

To save money, I buy only 1100 meter to 5000 meter cones and accept that it can happen with that large cone of thread. To me it is just inconvenient. Luckily, my piecing is done in bits at a time and mostly fairly slowly so it hasn't caused any major problems for me.

it really does not matter what brand I had a issue with aurifill variegated and paid good money for the spool.

    the replacement one was okay

The first time that it had happened, I contacted them and they did very nicely send another spool of the same color. When that one got to halfway, it had a knot tied in it also. I am not entirely sure to want to continue to receive defective spools from them.

I use low priced thread, large 3000 or 5000 yard cones, all cotton, made for machine quilting. I get it online at CT or ThreadArt. There is always a knot somewhere in the cone. I just re-thread, thinking to myself that I saved about $15 for my trouble. It's good thread at a good price.

Out of thousands of cones and spools there a few that are bound to have a flaw in any brand. Stuff like this doesn't bother me. It's just part of things that happen. I may have paid good money for the thread but I find great almost steal bargains that save me good money so it evens out. I always think when a frustrating bump comes along then I'll have a good bump coming too. It never has failed to be true for me.
