Just got the word from our Kaufman sales rep that Kona cottons are going to go up 35 cents / yard at the wholesale level on January 1st.

This is another basic staple good that many of us use. I can't imagine that even the chain stores will be able to absorb this increase without passing it along. So this is another item that you may want to stock up on.

    :-(

Thanks for letting us know! I need to get some black, so I better grab it now, huh?
So nice to have you tell us, we get the "inside scoop" lol!

Yes, you probably should get it now.

We (shops) can place orders until the end of December and get the goods at the current prices. So I would imagine that prices will hold steady at the retail level until all the goods that the stores ordered this month have sold out. But you know, everybody's going to want the black (and the white)...

I'd be interested to know whether most of the LQS's are going to raise their prices piecemeal, a color at a time as their lower-priced bolts sell out, or whether they will raise the prices of all colors of Kona cotton at the same time.

The lady at my LQS said her new prices are going up, (new orders), but she isnt marking up her older stuff. She said one of theLQS DID mark up all their older stuff. NOT FAIR, lol!

Joanns, at least my local one raises the prices immediately. As soon as cotton was advertized on the news as going up a $ a yard theirs went up. It went up from $3.99 to $4.99 a yard. I then got a flyer that was advertizing it for a $ off and said the regular price was $3.99 a yard. No it was not. I did not go in and argue, it is no use.

At the Joann's around here the Kona brand cotton has always been $4.99 a yard normally. The Joann's brand (whatever brand that is) was always $3.99. Did they raise the Joann's brand to $4.99 already?

I get Kona quite often at Hobby Lobby. It has always been $5.99 a yard until recently. I got some for my SIL's quilt and it was $6.99 a yard. I guess I will go to Hancock Fabric and get some Kona while it is on sale.

Will it ever stop?! I bet we never see the prices go down even if the cotton prices do. Makes me sad.
