I know many LA quilters use Connecting Threads Essentials brand. I have and had good success with it. It's 50wt. cotton.

Then they came out with Essential Pro in the fall. There's been a lot of discussion about it but I haven't seen any comparison between the two. The Pro is polyester and is 70wt, which makes it a lot thinner.

Since most LAQ seem to use thicker thread (40wt seems common; 50wt sometimes), how's the Essential Pro stack up? Is quilting more defined, less defined? Is there a noticeable difference between the cotton Essential and poly Essential Pro?

Thanks for any and all informed opinions.
