    Default LA quilting on fleece

I am just finished a quilt top for DGD and she wants fleece on the back. Does anyone have tips for quilting with fleece on the LA? I have quilted with minky but not the thicker fleece.

of you have the minky figured out you will do fine with the fleece- they behave about the same- the only thing I did when I used fleece on the back of a quilt was loosen the top tension just a tad. it quilts up beautifully.

Just finished one yesterday. She also wanted batting, used W&N. I think fleece is easier than Minkee! With both, just make sure you don't stretch it too much.

Any tips for quilting on the minkee? I'm quilting one with minkee backing this upcoming week.

My friend just finished a few quilts with fleece on the back. She did not use batting inthe middle. She quilted them on her HQ Avante and said they quilted perfectly--teh same as cotton backing.

I do not plan to use batting in the middle. When I quilt with minky on the back I think it might be easier to use batting because it helps stabilize the minky. I have done several with minky and no batting.

I have done several with minky and no batting. The most important thing is not to stretch the minky. I have quilted with the minky running both ways and I find it better to have the selvedges on the sides instead of the top and bottom.

The minkee tends to stretch and curl alot in one direction, so it's probably best to put the more stable ends at the top and bottom of your frame, and let the stretchier sides be at the right and left sides, I think.

Recently had a friend quilt a throw for me with a fleece back and she said 'never again' because the fleece stretched so much. Don't know if it was the quality of the fleece or not. Just know if she had trouble with it, I'll never do it, because she is a much better quilter than I am. And we are talking about long arm quilting - right?
