    Default Label Faux Pas

I fused and sewed the heart shape label on the corner of the Mickey Mouse quilt I have just completed for a toddler and just as I was about to congratulate myself on its completion noticed I had (accidently) sewn it in the top right hand corner instead of the usual bottom left. What was I thinking about!? It isn't going to be entered into any competitions, but is it a major faux pas or do I have to unpick it all and start again?

I wouldn't do it over. You said it isn't in a competition and it is a child's quilt. Be proud to give the quilt as a gift. The child will love it dearly.

I have sewn labels in different places on my quilt backs. Once kind of in the middle to cover a fabric flaw that I notice after the quilting. If it bothers you, sew a heart in all 4 corners rather than trying to remove a fused label.

Oh, for sure I wouldn't bother changing it. No one but you will even think it's in the "wrong" place. (And really it isn't. When someone isn't arbitrarily judging our quilts, we can do whatever we want!!)

I don't think it would be a problem even if the quilt were being judged or entered in a show. Labels are an individual decision and can go anywhere on the quilt.

    Totally agree!
Just like most other things in quilting .... there's no hard and fast rule that must be followed.

I've also seen where people include their "label" information on a block on the front of the quilt. Found this little article, about making labels that has a few suggestions, NOT necessarily for the label placement, but just for some ideas on labels.

I, too, sew my labels wherever the mood strikes me. On any corner, on the side, in the middle. Keep'em guessing!

I thought you were going to say that you had spelled the name wrong or had an incorrect date - -

Not a problem - as far as I can tell.
