    Default Labeling A Quilt I Didn't Make

This was given to me by my sister in 2007. She won it and did not really like it. However, I love it and want to put some information on it, but am not sure what to say.

I think I'd just say that it was won as a drawing, etc. (any details you might have/remember including place) in 2007, Maker Unknown

I will be making a label for a top I'm finishing that I found a thrift store, basically saying:
    Grandmother's Flower Garden
    Maker Unknown
    Handstitched, fabrics circa 1970-1980
    Machine Quilted by Me, 2019

I'm going to include a scan of the Goodwill tag on the label showing the $5.99 I paid for it because I'm goofy like that.

If you want to label it and you don't have access to the info on the maker you can do something like:

2007 XYZ raffle quilt through XYZ guild (or fund raiser, door prize, retreat or whatever the circumstances were that your sister won it)
    Maker Unknown
    Watercolor quilt with applique

It looks really nicely done. That was very kind of your sister to gift it to you.

I think it's really pretty. I sure wish I had a sister interested in quilting. She has such a good eye for color and design but she loves to buy clothes and decorate. She comes with me to quilt shop though, and gives me great ideas!

I would label it Waterlily, a gift from my sister and the date.

The background quilt is called water colour. Was popular a few years ago.

I put together quilt squares that my husband's grandmother had made for another family member. I put that in the label. Made by and who put it together.

I would say that it is a “water color with applique” and the add the who, what, where when and why.
