LQS is small and, how do I say it, not very broad in their selection of fabric, etc... Great if you want ethnic type material (African). But if you want to see a wide range of fabric you won't get it.
Too bad the marathon wasn't at the beginning of March. They had a wonderful quilt show at the Convention Center. Incredible!

It sounds as if you will be putting in almost as many miles as the runner - starting line,>>> LQS,>>> hotel room to sew,>>> 5 mile line ,>>>LQS,>>> sew, sew,>>> oops local ATM,>>> half way mark - cheer, cheer,,>>> phew, out of breath>>> have a great time and know we are with you in spirit until the finish line...

I vote for visiting the LQS's. You might find something new and exciting that you just can't live without!

Perhaps some of the members here will know of some LQS's in the area. Have a good time. :-D

Well...If I were going 8 hours away, my better half was occupied happily without me, I would probably take my sewing machine and enjoy myself. I work long hours and I'm usually short on rest time so I wouldn't feel bad about staying in a motel and relaxing with my sewing machine. If I felt like roaming around I would but I wouldn't feel obligated just because I am in a new place. In other words, do whatever you feel like doing, no right or wrong there.

Plan on both. Never know what the weather will bring. Maybe you will feel like sewing or not. At least you would have the choice.
