oooo, planning a girls' week-end there in Aug. when we are in WV. Have been to several but want to return. Don't care how it's stacked, fun to feel.

We got to visit in Lancaster and other PA towns in some shops several years ago and it was the neatest thing. Actually it's been 6 years and I'd love to go back. It's a long way from Alabama!

Don't know what Maypo is, but do know what ShooFly Pie and Whoopie Pies are.

I am so glad you had a terrific trip. My hometown of York, PA is just west of Lancaster and I get up a least 2 times a year - funny that there are quilt shows at exactly that same time . .hmm... Anyway I always go to The Quilt and Fabric Shack - as in ALWAYS!! It's Amish-owned and the prices are much lower than regular quilt shops (as are other Amish-ownd fabric shops). Last year I bought jelly rolls for $28 instead of $35.

Bitty Kinna's was new last year and a very nice shop - nice people. Old Country Store has all my pre-selected fat quarter packges plus all the other goodies in the store. Did you go upstairs to see the quilt display? I've been to most of the others - Obie's looks - interesting.

Thank you so much for the reminder of all the storesm up there. I'm going up the end of July for a family visit and - Quilt Odyssey wich I've been to every single year, including the horribly hot ones over in Gettysburg. And I always travel with my copy of "The Quilter's Travel Companion" as I make stops all the way from NC to PA - terrific book.

Just had to find out what maypo is and I did. Then I did a search for Obie's Country Store and there is more than one site, but I found this site interesting as it gave several fabric stores and locations with a map pinpointing where they are:

An Obies visit is an experience. During my last visit I was standing near the front door and suddenly hundreds of pot holders and placemats came tumbling down in front of me. I had not touched a thing. Have not been back.
