Default Lap Quilting - Needle Size ???

For those of you who hand quilt with quilt in lap, what size needle do you use for quilting?

I don't hand quilt anymore. When I did I used a size 8, short stubby needle.

I usually use an 8 or 9. I find the longer the needle is the harder it is to make small stitches.

I usually use an 11 or 12 between. Prefer Roxanne needles myself.

Are the betweens longer than the regular #11 quilting needle?

A " quilting needle" IS a between. The higher the number the smaller the needle (seems so counter-intuitive, but, then, they didn't ask me, did they?)
