Default LA's empty or buy more bobbins?

I have been doing LA quilting for a few years and I have thrown out a lot of thread from unwinding bobbins to use for a new color. So, my question to others is what is more cost effective unwind bobbins or buy new more bobbins. I use Aurifil so it is quite expensive to throw so much thread.. just thinking??

Can you rewind them on a bobbin for your DSM and use them for piecing?

That is a great idea transferring bobbin to bobbin for any machine!

If the thread color works with your binding you can use it to stitch on the binding and hand sew the last part.
